Asbestos Water Tank Removal in Verwood

<p>One of the most frequent problems we see in Verwood properties is what we call the 'Loft Hatch Dilemma'. Back when these asbestos cement tanks were installed, they were often put in place before the roof was finished or the ceiling joists were finalised. Fast forward to today, and you’ll likely find that the tank is significantly larger than your current loft hatch. It’s a bit of a puzzle, isn’t it?</p><p>Many homeowners—and unfortunately even some builders—think the solution is to simply grab a sledgehammer and smash the tank into smaller pieces to get it through the hatch. <strong>Please, never do this.</strong> Although asbestos cement is considered 'non-friable' (meaning the fibres are bonded in the cement), shattering it with a hammer releases thousands of microscopic fibres into the air. Once those fibres are in your loft insulation, they are incredibly difficult and expensive to remove. If the tank won't fit, we have the tools and training to either enlarge the hatch temporarily or use controlled wetting methods to manage the removal safely.</p>
